Some of the competition finalists

30 teams enter ‘Mashroo3i’ Youth Business Awards final

MANAMA, May 9, 2016

Bahrain’s Tamkeen has announced the final phase of its ‘Mashroo3i’ Youth Business Awards. A special exhibition for the competition will be held between May 12 and 13, at the West Wing of Seef Mall in the Seef district.

Thirty finalist teams, out of 75 total teams, will take part in the exhibition, where the shortlisted students will showcase their business projects and prototypes.

The exhibition concludes the efforts of the participants, who have undergone several stages: Undertaking a capacity building programme that provided them with the basics of business planning; creating a business plan with the assistance of 12 assigned prominent business entrepreneurs in the kingdom; presenting the business plan to a panel of judges that contained business experts and industry veterans; and then created a business prototype and a business identity in preparation for the public exhibition.

Tamkeen chief executive Dr Ebrahim Mohammed Janahi commented: “Promoting entrepreneurship among the youth is key to building the capabilities of and capacities of Bahrainis. Achieving this requires the development of platforms that allow them to unleash their creativity and turn it into real projects that can further contribute to the development of the Kingdom’s economy. The ‘Mashroo3i’ Youth Business Awards acts as one of these platforms, as it guides the youth towards learning about the elements required to start and develop successful businesses in an environment that simulates the reality of the market and the national economy.”

The winners will be awarded at a closing ceremony on Saturday, May 14, which will be held after the collection of voting results from the public who have visited the exhibition.

The first three winners will receive a big range on non-financial support packages from Tamkeen, which will include incubation opportunities provided with private sector support as well as local and international internship opportunities in related fields. –TradeArabia News Service
