70-bed new hospital planned in Oman

MUSCAT, March 7, 2017

Omani and Spanish partners are planning to set up a 70-bed high-end super-specialty hospital in Oman with an investment of RO24 million ($62.33 million), a report said.

Oman and Emirates Investment Holding Company (O&E), a Muscat-based listed company, is the local company involved in the project, said the Oman Daily Observer report.

“O&E is promoting this project jointly with Spanish partners and has agreed to invest RO1.845 million and take up a 15 per cent equity stake in the company,” Awad Mohammed Faraj Bamkhalef, chief executive officer, was quoted as saying in the report.

Provisional plans drawn up by the partners envisage a 70-bed facility, which is expandable to 100 beds, offering state-of-the-art medical facilities.

The proposed share capital has been fully booked by various institutional investors in Oman and also by the Spanish partner, who will invest 15 per cent, said Bamkhalef.
