Eng Tasneem Mohamed Yousif, from Bahrain, was recognised with a silver medal for her invention, Smart Gas System (SGS), at the recently concluded 9th international inventions Fair, Middle East, Kuwait.
The invention was also awarded an ‘Excellence Scientific Award in Inventions’ by the Kuwait Science Club, said a statement.
Yousif was selected by Bahrain's Ministry of Youth and Sport as one of the top five inventors to represent Bahrain at the event, which took place at Jomira hotel in Kuwait City under the patronage of HH the Emir of Kuwait Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah.
The event was organised in collaboration with the International Exhibition of Inventions of Geneva and is widely regarded as one of the largest specialised invention exhibitions in the world, it added.
Bahrain participated with five unique inventions each in their own category. The exhibition recorded a total of 36 countries and 245 inventions which participated in the event. The participants from Bahrain managed to earn two gold medals and three silver medals.
The Smart Gas System (SGS) invention is an intelligent system for the detection of toxic gases remotely from far distances using mobile application or web-based system by using the nanotechnology. This system has a high efficiency in detecting explosive gases remotely replacing the hand-held sensors or fixed sensors by using the nanotechnology.
Currently, the robot has a high efficiency sensor that can detect 11 different flammable gases such as LPG, natural gas, methane, propane, hydrogen sulphide, sulphur oxides, chlorine, hydrogen chloride, hydrogen, carbon monoxide, alcohol. These gases are too dangerous especially in oil and gas companies.
The system reduces overall costs instead of placing lots of sensors in multiple locations, and also performing routine check-ups and maintenance, it stated. – TradeArabia News Service
