Bovet unveils new 19Thirty collection

GENEVA, September 7, 2017

With the 19Thirty collection of timepieces, Bovet 1822 takes collectors on a journey back through time to the 1930’s, when the watchmaking industry was revolutionised – and watches moved from pockets to wrists.

The 19Thirty collection was created to pay tribute to this major milestone in watchmaking history, and is inspired by a 1930’s Bovet “easel” chronometer, one of the last pocket watches to be manufactured by BOVET before wristwatches became widespread.

19Thirty models take the numbers and hands from the “easel” chronometer and combine them with pared-down aesthetics to underline chronometric performance and haute horlogerie finishes. The collection is characterised by two distinct cases: the Fleurier case, whose crown and bow at 12 o’clock recall the origins of Bovet, and the more traditional Dimier case, with its four horns and a crown positioned at 3 o’clock in an additional nod this important transitional decade.

The references within the 19Thirty family are driven by a dedicated caliber that has been entirely developed and manufactured in-house by specialist watchmakers and artisans; the hand-wound mechanical movement features a seven-day power reserve and its architecture is focused on harmony and symmetry to create unique elegance.

With this evolution from pocket watch to wristwatch came more constraints, and using steel as a material for crafting watches became ever more popular due to its properties. The 19Thirty collection comprises signature steel models, as well as select red gold models that were later introduced.

For the signature steel models, collectors can select a black, blue or ivory dial with Arabic, Roman, Chinese or Hindi numerals, historically present on the dials manufactured by Bovet. - TradeArabia News Service
