Bahrain will soon introduce special new private vehicle number plates thorough the auction of registration plates.

The auction of the number plates will be administered by a new government company, in which the revenues will be referred  to the Ministry of Finance, said Shaikh Nasser bin Abdulrahman Al Khalifa, the Ministry of Interior Under Secretary.

He said the step, announced as part of the directives of Interior Minister Lt-General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, is in line with the kingdom’s commitment to the principles of competitiveness, fairness and sustainability.

Following the sale of vehicle numbers at the auction, the General  Directorate of Traffic will issue a certificate of ownership to the buyer.  

He clarified that the private vehicle number plates already in circulation will remain the property of their current owners, as all the numbers that will be auctioned are new.

The new auction will provide simple and accessible for any individual to acquire a private vehicle number plate, he added. - TradeArabia News Service
