Oman seeks project management consultants for IWPs

MUSCAT, February 13, 2017

Oman Power and Water Procurement Company (OPWP) has invited bids from consultancy firms to  provide project management and technical consultancy services for the construction of two independent water projects being developed in the sultanate, said a report.

The independent water projects - coming up at Salalah and Sharqiyah region - will be implemented by private developers on a build-own-operate basis, stated the Times of Oman.

The winning consultant will provide project management services during the construction, commissioning and testing phase of these two independent water projects. The last date for submitting the bid is March 26.

These are expected to substantially enhance availability of potable water in the country's southern and northern regions, said the report.

The Salalah plant is expected to start commercial operations in the third quarter of 2019, while the Sharqiyah unit will take off in the second quarter of 2020, it added.
