Empower district cooling services 'in big demand'

DUBAI, March 14, 2017

UAE-based Emirates Central Cooling Systems Corporation (Empower) has revealed that the number of buildings using its district cooling services across Dubai reached 920 last year, up 13.6 per cent over 2015.

One of the world’s largest district cooling service provider, Empower said there were many reasons behind this growth, the prime being the increase in new projects using the company’s services as well as the jump in its operational capacity.

Moreover, many of the building owners and developers prefer district cooling services over the conventional cooling systems, it stated.

"District cooling service represents the future of the chilling services in the world. During the coming years, we will see more building owners and developers converting from conventional chilling methods to district cooling, not only in Dubai and the UAE, but also globally," remarked Ahmad Bin Shafar, the chief executive of Empower.

The international real estate industry now requires efficient, affordable and eco-friendly cooling services, he said.

According to Bin Shafar, Empower has succeeded in fulfilling its goals in using affordable, efficient and eco-friendly methods during the past years.

Recently, the company has launched many cooling plants and increased its operational capacity to keep up with its growth, he noted.

“We expect to register more growth and to maximise the coverage of the services to reach a whole new set of buildings in the coming years," he added.-TradeArabia News Service
