TÜV Rheinland to introduce new tool at Adipec

ABU DHABI, November 12, 2017

Leading technical service provider TÜV Rheinland will be showcasing C-PEC, a newly developed tool for inspecting the surface and intermediate casing of cemented offshore wells, at this year´s Abu Dhabi International Petroleum Exhibition and Conference (Adipec) which kicks off tomorrow (November 13).

One of the world’s most influential events for the oil and gas industry, Adipec will run until November 17 in the UAE capital, attracting more than 100,000 attendees from across the globe.

The exhibition is an opportunity for TÜV Rheinland to meet owners and operators of oil and gas assets from over 135 countries and inform them about solutions to surface casing collapses caused by corrosion.

Among other things the company has been inspecting surface and intermediate casings of cemented offshore wells with its D-PEC inspection tool for many years.

The corporation has a large portfolio of services for a wide range of industries and has established a market leader position in the Middle East to assist oil and gas companies with safe, secure and reliable operation, said a top official.

"The Research and Development team at TÜV Rheinland has developed a new tool that fits and enters the annulus between the surface casing and the intermediate casing," remarked Fred Gabriels, the managing director at TÜV Rheinland.

"The previous D-PEC tool could not always be used in the annulus between conductor and surface casing if the offshore well had been cemented. We are proud to have solved this issue and are now able to provide a precise solution," he stated.

“The new tool, which enters the surface casing via the well head, is ATEX zone 0 approved and can be used during production without compromising safety,” he added.

At its stand TÜV Rheinland will also present the new Sonopec equipment, an improved inspection technology used for cost effective corrosion detection and monitoring.

Besides this, the company will be showcasing an AIM model with a flexible approach. It is used to establish full value-adding service packages tailored specifically to customer needs and individual project requirements - from project development to implementation.-TradeArabia News Service
