SAUDIA REQUEST STILL PENDING

Qatar 'has not yet given permission for pilgrim flights'

RIYADH, August 21, 2017

Saudi Arabian Airlines has so far been unable to schedule its flights to transport Qatari Haj pilgrims from the Hamad International Airport in Doha due to lack of permission from Qatari authorities, a senior Saudi official said.

Director General of Saudi Arabian Airlines Engineer Saleh Al-Jasser said Qatari authorities have not allowed Saudi Arabian Airlines' planes to land despite making the request days in advance, a Saudi Press Agency report said.

Saudi Airlines had asked Qatari authorities for permission for their trips to transport Qatari pilgrims, which were scheduled after the directives of King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud.

The directives were given after the mediation of Sheikh Abdullah bin Ali Al Thani.
